It’s been a long time coming…

Have you ever planned something
For so long
That when it happens
It seems too fast,
Like it crept up on you
As if you didn’t know?

Are you familiar
With that overwhelming feeling
That comes when you
Take a step
That feels like a
Giant leap
Over a mighty canyon
And you feel you might fall?

My life is a series of
Beautiful misadventures like:
I planned to go left
And was actually sent right
But it’s okay, sort of misadventures.
Then there are the,
I’m going to climb this mountain
That’s actually too high
And I can’t really breathe
So I’m forced to go home.

Those ones are my least favourite because
I don’t want to be home,
I don’t really want to be safe.
I want to be out in the world
Venturing and misadventuring
Through valleys and rivers
Up mountains and dancing with stars.

So does my flirting with
Disappointment
Leave me
Cold, alone and
Cornered
To ‘misadventure’ no more?
